Busy, Busy, Busy - Almost 6 months old

Wow, how time flies. We have been in Tennessee for 5 weeks and life has been busier than ever. Daddy is enjoying his new job at the hospital and he is very pleased with his choice to specialize in Pediatrics. Mommy and I are also happy with Daddy's choice because now whenever Mommy has a question she knows exactly where to turn.

Well where do I start, what have I been upto the past little while. A few weeks ago Mommy and Daddy had their first dinner party at the house. We had all of Daddy's new Resident friends (all the 1st years) over for a BBQ, we had Beer Butt Chicken, Potatoes, Broccoli Salad and Strawberry Salad, everyone commenting on how good everything was, this made Mommy very happy! I think she was a little nervous on what she should serve considering the food here in the South is quite different than back home in Toronto. I got them all together and took their picture, which is why I am not in the photo (actually I was already in bed when they took the picture).

A few days later we went to a birthday party for my new friend Fisher, he turned 1! We bought him a really neat lawn mower that blows bubbles, it looks like lots of fun to play with, at least he really seemed to like it. He also seemed to like eating his crayons and the yummy cake that his mommy made from scratch. I was so tired by the end of the party that I decided to take a nap on Fisher's mommy, Kara, I think she enjoyed holding me!

Just this past week Mommy and I got to go back home to Toronto. It was a long travel day, we had to take 2 planes with a stopover in Charlotte, North Carolina but we made it and I didn't cry at all on either plane rides. When we finally arrived at the airport Gigi was there to pick us up and I was so happy to see her, as soon as I heard "Hey Noodle" I gave a big smile.

It was such an exciting trip home, I got to meet some of my new cousins, Rebecca and Elsa. Both new babies were at my cousin Tricia's wedding reception, they are so little, mommy kept saying she can't believe I was ever that small. I spent the day at the reception hanging out with all my wonderful cousins and my Uncle Ryan, it was so much fun. Every once in a while I would hear mommy ask "where is my daughter"!

While we were home we took a day trip to Collingwood and spent the afternoon playing with my cousins, Andrew, Rachael, Alexandra and Rebecca at their cottage. They have so many toys to play with, I loved it there, my favorite was the swing that was outside on their play house (see the video below of me sitting all by myself in the swing). Mommy and Robin didn't stop talking the entire time we were there, I think they had fun catching up!

We also got to visit with my friend Cassie. I really miss hanging out at Cassie's house, she is so much fun, I learn allot from her. Auntie Amy also came out to Cassie's house so I could wish her a Happy 30th Birthday, I know she doesn't look like she is turning 30, my guess was that she was only 20!

One of the things I enjoyed the most about going home was visiting with my Papa. We have lots of fun together, he is always smiling at me and seems really happy when I am around. One day I decided to play hide and go seek under his feet while he was sitting in his chair. He has huge feet and it was fun to roll underneath them!

When it was time to leave my mommy started to cry, I don't think she wanted to go, Gigi kept telling her that it won't be long till we see them again. Gigi and Papa have already bought us another ticket to come home at the end of August (just 4 weeks)! At the airport in Buffalo I got one last chance to play with Gigi, they had this cool room with a remote control car, it was really neat, I think I look good in a convertible!

Daddy was really happy to see us when we got home on Friday and we were pretty happy to see him as well. As soon as Daddy took one look at me he started to smile, when I smiled back he could see my new tooth. That's right, I now have 2 teeth on the bottom, mommy keeps saying how cute it looks, although I haven't been cooperating for a picture! I am now eating baby food, I have cereal in the morning and peas at dinner and I love them both. I sat in my high chair for the first time yesterday, it is a really nice chair that Gigi and Papa bought for me. It has a 5 point harness that I am going to try and figure out how to get out of!

Well that is all for now, we will try to update the blog more frequently now that we are back!

Take care and keep in touch,

Emmie

Getting around in Tennessee

Well the rumour is true, we miss all of you. Although we are adjusting to life in Tennessee, we still wish we were back in Canada with all of you, especially on this past Canada Day. Don't worry we did make sure to celebrate our country's birthday, in honour of Canada day we wore our Canada gear that we got from Auntie Shirley and Uncle Don and we hung a Canadian flag outside our house.

Tennessee has been treating us very well, our neighbors are fantastic and everyone at Daddy's hospital is extremely nice. Daddy had his first day of work this past week on July 2nd, he worked in clinic from 8:30 to 5pm and then he was on-call at the hospital until 9am the next morning. When Mommy and I picked him up the next day he seemed a little tired but super excited as well, he really enjoyed his first day.

In honour of July 4th we were invited to our very first Eastern Tennessee Cook-out, same as what we would call a BBQ back home in Canada. There was lots of food, drinks and fireworks! They told Mommy she could bring something Canadian to the cook-out, so she decided to bring Amy's famous Broccoli salad, it was a big hit. It was so much fun, we got to meet all of our neighbors and tons of other babies. I did make a special new little friend, his name is Fischer, he is 11 months old, I think he really likes me. Mommy forgot to take pictures, she only got one random shot, you can see Daddy in the Orange shirt carrying me around.

This past week Gram and Pop-Pop were here for a visit. They drove down in their Motorhome and stayed for six days! It was so nice to see them and get a chance to spend some quality time. We took a trip in the Motorhome to a tourist spot in nearby North Carolina called "Grandfather Mountain", it was pretty cool to get to visit this mountain with my own Grandfather (Pop-Pop). The whole family got to go, including Dexter and Ryder.

On top of Grandfather Mountain is a small zoo, this is where I got a close look at my very first Black Bear, very scary! I also had my first camping experience at a really neat campground off the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, it was beautiful. I love the outdoors so much, it makes me really happy. Mommy and Daddy told me not to get too cozy in the motorhome because it's not real camping unless you are in a tent, which apparently is how my parents normally camp, can't wait for that!

I had a few accomplishments this past week, lets see where do I start; I sat all on my own for almost 5 minutes while playing with my toys. I figured out how to get my big toe into my mouth, it is great to suck on, much better than my thumb. And last but not least I got my very first tooth, that's right, a tooth! Mommy couldn't seem to understand why I was waking up so many times the past few nights, until all of a sudden one of my front bottom teeth popped up through my gums. Mommy keeps trying to get a picture of it, but I am reluctant to show it off.

I have also been having lots of fun playing with the toy Gigi bought for me when she was here, my very first Elmo toy. Elmo laughs, sings and even dances, quite amazing, I still can't believe it! See the video below of me watching Elmo show-off.

Well, that is all for now, Mommy and I are going to go and take a walk with our new neighborhood friends. Daddy is on-call today from 7am till tomorrow at 9am, so we won't be seeing him tonight, it just the two girls hanging out!

Love and miss y'all,

Emmie
