Getting around in Tennessee

Well the rumour is true, we miss all of you. Although we are adjusting to life in Tennessee, we still wish we were back in Canada with all of you, especially on this past Canada Day. Don't worry we did make sure to celebrate our country's birthday, in honour of Canada day we wore our Canada gear that we got from Auntie Shirley and Uncle Don and we hung a Canadian flag outside our house.

Tennessee has been treating us very well, our neighbors are fantastic and everyone at Daddy's hospital is extremely nice. Daddy had his first day of work this past week on July 2nd, he worked in clinic from 8:30 to 5pm and then he was on-call at the hospital until 9am the next morning. When Mommy and I picked him up the next day he seemed a little tired but super excited as well, he really enjoyed his first day.

In honour of July 4th we were invited to our very first Eastern Tennessee Cook-out, same as what we would call a BBQ back home in Canada. There was lots of food, drinks and fireworks! They told Mommy she could bring something Canadian to the cook-out, so she decided to bring Amy's famous Broccoli salad, it was a big hit. It was so much fun, we got to meet all of our neighbors and tons of other babies. I did make a special new little friend, his name is Fischer, he is 11 months old, I think he really likes me. Mommy forgot to take pictures, she only got one random shot, you can see Daddy in the Orange shirt carrying me around.

This past week Gram and Pop-Pop were here for a visit. They drove down in their Motorhome and stayed for six days! It was so nice to see them and get a chance to spend some quality time. We took a trip in the Motorhome to a tourist spot in nearby North Carolina called "Grandfather Mountain", it was pretty cool to get to visit this mountain with my own Grandfather (Pop-Pop). The whole family got to go, including Dexter and Ryder.

On top of Grandfather Mountain is a small zoo, this is where I got a close look at my very first Black Bear, very scary! I also had my first camping experience at a really neat campground off the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, it was beautiful. I love the outdoors so much, it makes me really happy. Mommy and Daddy told me not to get too cozy in the motorhome because it's not real camping unless you are in a tent, which apparently is how my parents normally camp, can't wait for that!

I had a few accomplishments this past week, lets see where do I start; I sat all on my own for almost 5 minutes while playing with my toys. I figured out how to get my big toe into my mouth, it is great to suck on, much better than my thumb. And last but not least I got my very first tooth, that's right, a tooth! Mommy couldn't seem to understand why I was waking up so many times the past few nights, until all of a sudden one of my front bottom teeth popped up through my gums. Mommy keeps trying to get a picture of it, but I am reluctant to show it off.

I have also been having lots of fun playing with the toy Gigi bought for me when she was here, my very first Elmo toy. Elmo laughs, sings and even dances, quite amazing, I still can't believe it! See the video below of me watching Elmo show-off.

Well, that is all for now, Mommy and I are going to go and take a walk with our new neighborhood friends. Daddy is on-call today from 7am till tomorrow at 9am, so we won't be seeing him tonight, it just the two girls hanging out!

Love and miss y'all,

Emmie
